Awbrey Village Park is a small neighborhood park on the northeast side of Awbrey Butte. The park sits on the side of a hill, nestled between houses and a small business plaza. With so many small parks in this part of town, this might not be your first choice if you’re driving. But if it’s close to home or you work across the street, Awbrey Village Park offers a little bit of nature amid the sprawling developments in NW Bend.

Address: 3015 NW Merchant Way

Pros:  Some shade trees and pretty landscaping.

Cons: Small, playground designed for little ones only

Key features: The centerpiece of Awbrey Village Park is the play area. It’s a standard play structure designed for little kids, so it would quickly get boring for older children or adults. The small size of the park and cars whizzing by on either side makes the park feel like more of a quick rest stop than a place to hang out. It would make a nice spot to stop and do some pushups and climbing before continuing on your walk or run.

What you’ll see and hear: Lots of singing birds!

Best use of the park: Taking your little kiddo for a play session or stopping to watch the birds.

Parking: Street parking only.

Bike parking: None

Fun fact: Awbrey Butte is a distinctive butte visible from much of Bend. Since it is at a higher elevation than downtown, snow often lingers longer up there.
